Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions About Our Services
We understand families have many questions when seeking psychiatric care for their child. Below are answers to the most common questions about our practice, services, and approach.
What makes SageMind specialized for my child's mental health needs?
SageMind Psychiatric Care focuses on child and adolescent psychiatric evaluation and ongoing care. Dr. Othman Mohammad works with a range of concerns, including attention and learning difficulties, developmental differences, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related symptoms, OCD, and more complex presentations. Care is tailored to each child's developmental stage and family context.
What is your treatment philosophy for children?
We use an evidence-based, collaborative approach focused on the whole child, not only symptoms. Treatment recommendations may include medication when appropriate, coordination with therapy, and parent-focused support. When families authorize it, we can collaborate with other members of your child's care team, such as pediatricians, therapists, and school supports.
My child needs help soon. How long is the wait for an appointment?
Appointment timing varies based on current availability and clinical fit. We will share the earliest openings when you contact our office and help you determine next steps. We strive to offer an appointment within 2 weeks of initial screening call.
Is SageMind a good fit for busy families?
Our office is located in Lisle with convenient access from major routes, which can make in-person visits easier for many families. We also offer telehealth appointments when clinically appropriate and permitted. Telehealth eligibility and scheduling depend on clinical needs and applicable requirements.
Are there any requirements before scheduling a psychiatric assessment?
To support coordinated care, we may ask families to share information about a current therapist or prior treatment. If your child is not currently working with a therapist, we can discuss options and determine the most appropriate next step based on your situation.
Do you offer second opinions for children with complex histories?
Yes. We offer a second opinion consultation for $425. This includes a 90-minute visit and up to 60 minutes of record review when records are provided in advance. This service is intended to help clarify diagnostic questions, discuss treatment options, and support coordination with your child's existing providers. Because each child's situation is unique, results vary, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept certain insurance plans for clinical services, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna. Plan participation and benefits can vary, so please contact us to confirm your specific plan and coverage. We also offer self-pay options with transparent pricing. Sliding-scale availability may vary based on current capacity.
